This song was inspired by two powerful stories from the Book of Daniel: the three Hebrew young men who refused to bow down to a golden image and were thrown into a fiery furnace, and Daniel, who continued to pray as usual despite the king’s decree and was thrown into the lions’ den. Reflecting on these stories, Matthew West shared that what he loves about them is how “they stood up for their faith, and God stood up for them.” He explained that his courage to live “unashamed” comes from a heart of gratitude for what God has done in his life: “I know how lost I’d be without Him.” It is from that place of gratitude that he desires to tell everyone who will listen that Jesus loves them. This Chinese cover brings that same bold declaration of faith to life through worship, reminding us that true courage comes not from our own strength, but from the King who walked with His people through the fire and shut the mouths of lions. Because of Him, even when facing the fiery furnaces and lions’ dens of life, we can still choose to lift our voices in praise.
